2008 Corrections Officer Donna Fitzgerald

Correctional Officer Donna Fitzgerald age 50, was attacked and stabbed to death by an inmate at the Tomoka Correctional Institution in 2008.

The inmate was serving two life sentences for armed sexual assault, he was hiding in a shed and attacked Officer Fitzgerald when she approached it.

Donna called Port Orange home after she moved to our community in 1985. Officer Fitzgerald served with the Florida Department of Corrections for 13 years. Her beautiful smile and infectious laughter will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her 19 year old son Kyle.
